Using Google Places Api inside AA.
« on: December 05, 2015, 07:40:27 PM »
I'm really new to Alpha and am starting the development of a Franchise members database.  It includes a quote/service request for customers to fill out (external to the main system, but directing the data into the SQL backend).
As part of that I want to include looking up Google Places as they type an address, providing them with a list of matching addresses and then having them select the correct address.
I've successfully done this in MS Access using the Google places api for Web services (https & xml) but have no idea how to attack it in Alpha anywhere.
https://developers.google.com/places/web-service/autocomplete

The form being filled out by the client will be a UX control and may be completed on either a PC or mobile platform.
any assistance would be appreciated to get me started down the correct road.

I don't know exactly without trying it out myself, but it would probably start with an AjaxCallback or Javascript under a KeyUp Event for the data-entry field. The callback would hit the API which would return something to the event that might or might not paint in the data-entry field and other fields.
